How to Optimise for Bing - Bing SEO
Bing is the brand new search engine from Microsoft, that is attempting to challenge the all powerful market domination of Google. So what is Bing? Bing is a clever new search engine that is based upon a new form of search algorithms, unlike google which gives preference to unique content sites and sites with a high number of good quality backlinks. Bing seems to give more credit to authoraitve links from trusted and aged domains, rather than give credit to unique content.
This will make it much more difficult for new sites and for blog sites to appear in the search listings, instead articles by News sites and sites with an existing online presence will appear much more in the search results.
So how should one optimise for Bing? Here are a few suggestions from our SEO Team:
- Concentrate on gaining a lower number of high quality links from trusted and relevant themed websites, rather than looking for a high volume of lower quality backlinks.
- Link to trusted websites such as BBC, CNN and other high profile information sources, this should help to convince that you site understands that it’s good to link to trusted sites and you should get ‘trusted’ over time.
- Be careful which sites you link to, it’s probably a good idea to remove any links to domains that are under a year old.
- Unique content is still important, but not as important as with Google. We can presume that duplicate content and spam will still be penalised, but to what extent we are unsure.
- Bing is likely to be even more strict with black hat techniques for linkbuilding, so don’t do anything dodgy to try and get your site ranking quickly.
We will add more tips to how to optimise for Bing as soon as we can unpick this search engine more.
